Biography

Seiichiro Matsunaga

After staying 5 years in New York as a music journalist, Hirofumi Yamazaki (a.k.a. Seiichiro Matsunaga as a journalist) came back Japan and founded his label “MOCLOUD” in 2003 with Jacques Schwarz-Bart. The label belongs to Ultra Vybe Inc from 2019. He has also started to work as chief director of ReBorn Wood label in Japan since 2019. The label is focused on young Japanese talented musicians.

His most notable work is introducing Soulive to Japan in 1999.

音楽評論家として1998年から2003年までニューヨークに在住。ソウライヴなどを輩出したジャムバンド・シーンを日本に紹介する。2003年、帰国後に自身の制作レーベル”MOCLOUD”を立ち上げ、ジャック・シュワルツバルトBrother Jacques Project “Inspiration”をリリース(RH Factorの1stシングル”Forget/Regret”のオリジナルヴァージョン収録)。名古屋コミュニケーションアート専門学校非常勤講師を3年間務めた後、FMヨコハマ「Yokohama Jazzy Night」(DJ ゴンザレス鈴木 現番組名「濱ジャズ」)の構成・選曲担当。音楽評論家として「JAZZ LIFE」「Jazz Japan」誌などに寄稿する他、東京JAZZ 2012のオフィシャルインタービュアーも務める。

音楽プロデューサーとしてアルバム、サム・キニンジャー(sax)「アンセム」(2007/BMG JAPAN)、小沼ようすけ「ジャム・カ」(2010/SONY MUSIC)、トニー・モナコ、小沼ようすけ、ジーン・ジャクソン「ライヴ・アット・コットンクラブ、ジャパン」(2011/Mocloud)、「At One」(2016/Mocloud)、「Jam Ka Deux」(2016/Flyway LABEL)を制作。ジャパンツアー制作ディレクターとして、大阪で行われたジェフ・ニーヴ(p)と名古屋芸術大学オーケストラによる「日本・ベルギー国交150周年記念コンサート」の制作プロデュースを担当した。同コンサートにはベルギー国王夫妻が来賓した。

– アシッドジャズ黎明期に礎を築いたDJポール・マーフィーと共にレアグルーヴの再発をプロデュース
– ロシアのレーベル「レイニーデイズ」とパートナーシップを結び日本発売
– フランスのレーベル「サンセット・レコーズ」とパートナーシップを結び日本発売
– ブラジルのアーティストのリリースと紹介を積極的におこなっている
